Project Brief

The NAMM Show is the world's largest trade-only event for the music products industry. It is held every Summer in Nashville, Tennessee, and every Winter in Anaheim, California. NAMM is one of the largest music product trade shows in the world.

NAMM is a trade-only business show catering to domestic and international dealers and distributors. Only employees and guests of the exhibiting manufacturers or NAMM member retailers and distributors are allowed to attend, along with credentialed members of the press.

1. Branding & Identity

A simplified version of NAMM’s previous logo has been created to support a clean, flat brand system. This logo is intended to be kept in one color only.
The rebrand utilizes the fonts Lato and it’s slab-sister font, Aleo. Lato is a unique, humanist sans-serif featuring a balance of sharp corners and rounded edges in a variety of weights.

The color scheme allows for simple and clean aesthetic that promote technology, energy and innovation. Large scale photography is used often to showcase the the conference for what it really is: exciting, experiential, and of course, loud.

The website’s primary goal is to encourage new businesses to exhibit at the conference. The site also provides up-to-date information about what is happening at NAMM as well as information about the successes of previous years.

Several speakers give presentations over the course of the conference. The speaker page allows viewers to quickly sift through the speakers and find out where and when they are speaking.

3. Mobile App

The mobile app is designed for people who are already planning on attending the conference or are currently there. The app serves as a personal assistant to all attendees by keeping track of their schedule, all information regarding their booth, maps of their location, and news on what is happening around NAMM.
By tapping the menu button at the bottom, users are able to view their news feed, schedule, profile, a master list of exhibitors, and a map of the venue. Users can add events from their news feed to their schedule by tapping on the star.

The app has a social media aspect that allows users can connect with others with the intention of meeting up at NAMM. This brings vendors together to support the networking and collaborative efforts of the conference.

Several brand extensions have been created to allow attendees to be immersed in the NAMM style both before and after the conference. The NAMM Magazine gives conference goers ideas on what they will see at the show, and keeps them up to date with events, speakers, and concerts that will be happening. Badges have been created to differentiate vendors from musicians.

Attendees are encouraged to download Spotify to listen to the NAMM playlist, featuring artists that are performing over the weekend. Attendees also receive complementary guitar picks and ear plugs.
